English Burly
Oak
English oak is an English native species that displays light to medium brown shades. It is strong, hard, heavy, and dense, with very close, interlocking grain caused as a result of the many small knots and clusters of knots within the trees that present themselves as the beautiful swirling patterns that can be seen in lots of its slabs.
It takes an English oak tree around 40 years to reach maturity, when it will then produce acorns of its own. They can live for 900–1000 years! It is said that an oak takes 300 years to grow, 300 years to live, and 300 years to die.
The oak is harvested from a sustainably managed forest, ensuring the long-term viability of this hard wood species.
American Black
Walnut
This premium species of wood takes around 50 years to mature. It is in high demand due to its strength, durability, and beautiful aesthetics. It can only grow in a limited number of places, predominantly in the eastern USA. They can live for more than 250 years.
The heartwood colour can range from pale brown to a deep chocolate brown with darker brown streaks. It can also have undertones of red or purple. The sapwood ranges from pale yellow-grey to almost white.
Epoxy
Resin
Once set, epoxy resin is food-safe and resistant to chemicals, heat, and corrosion. It is very strong, as it was developed to strengthen structural parts like flooring materials.
Resin begins as clear as glass, and it can be dyed to any colour you desire. This means we can create any look you want, including transparent, semi-transparent, and opaque colours. With the use of metallic powders, different effects can be achieved to reflect the light differently in either a separate colour or the same colour as the resin.
Some examples of different resin effects are shown below.
